The Presidential Hajj Taskforce (PHTF)

The taskforce is responsible for the planning and organization of the annual Pilgrimage to the Holy Land of Makkah and Madina in Saudi Arabia. It was set up by His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Sierra Leone in 2023 to ensure an inclusive and effective Hajj service delivery for Sierra Leoneans everywhere.

Our goals

  1. To enable and support Sierra Leoneans everywhere to perform Hajj safely, smoothly and cost-effectively.
  2. To guide and supervise those serving pilgrims with careful, technical, spiritual and professional efficiency.
  3. To ensure that the pilgrimage journey to and from the Holy Land is efficiently and carefully managed
  4. To orientate pilgrims on the rites of pilgrimage.
  5. To provide, as may be required, guidance on and/or management of targeted Government support to needy and deserving citizens, for the achievement of Hajj as a pillar of their Muslim faith.
  6. To liaise with the Sierra Leone Embassy in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as part of a common Sierra Leone Hajj process implementation plan.

Structure

The taskforce is headed by a Chairman, supported by six (6) Hajj subject matter and operational managers drawn from the Islamic community, Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), directly involved in the management and administration of Hajj activities both in the Republic of Sierra Leone and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
