A total of 300 Sierra Leonean home-based pilgrims, including Alhaji Murtada Mohamed Sesay, Chairman of the Presidential Hajj Taskforce, have safely arrived in Madinah. They were warmly received at Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport by Sierra Leone’s Ambassador Mohammed S. Barrie and Deputy Ambassador Abdul Aziz Turay.
The pilgrims are staying at the Sedrtul Madimah hotel near Masjid Nabawi, the Prophet’s Mosque, where they will perform daily prayers and visit key historic sites such as the Prophet’s tomb before proceeding to Makkah for the 2025 Hajj.
Meanwhile, 100 more home-based pilgrims, beneficiaries of the Saudi Royal Hajj scholarship, are scheduled to depart Freetown on 30 May. They are expected to arrive at King Abdulaziz International Airport’s Hajj Terminal after an eight-hour flight.
This year, Sierra Leone is sending a total of 2,000 pilgrims from both home and abroad to take part in the Hajj pilgrimage, which will take place from 4 to 9 June 2025 (8th to 12th Dhul-Hijjah 1446H).
